Lincoln's first pedal pull

Ok, ok, I'm on a roll now. Never mind the whole work thing, right? lol.

Lincoln was able to pull in Glencoe, but I couldn't see it because they never announced his name and there were other people in the way. I know - MAJOR BUMMER. The next pull he was able to do was in Hamburg. What a hoot!! Schmidt's were there, too, and he and Jake were so excited to pull. Lincoln was first and he just smiled and smiled. He got on the tractor and he went ahead and then he backed up. He went ahead and then he backed up. There's "give" between the tractor and trailer so he was able to go forward, back up, etc. Everyone in the audience was laughing and Lincoln was just having a hey-day. lol. The pullers finally stopped him and said "good job" and then he smiled and was so excited to get his can of pop. lol. It really was quite funny because he just kept going back and forth, back and forth. lol.

Peace.

Mercedes' pedal pull this year in Glencoe

As I'm trying to work, I keep remembering different stories to write in here.

I have a co-worker, Jean, who has a grandson the same age as Mercedes. Well, they got involved in pedal pulls last year as me and my big mouth always spout off about the girls. Last year she asked me when the pull was in Glencoe and her grandson placed one above Mercedes. I think Mercedes got 3rd last year in Glencoe and Adam got 2nd. He also placed one above her in Winthrop. Major bummer, but oh well. I always was polite about it, but then she seemed a bit snooty because Adam always beat her. She'd come to work and mention how good Adam did, but wouldn't say a word about Mercedes. I quit talking about it then and I didn't tell her anymore where the next pulls were. Screw you then. Anyway, the Glencoe one is always the first one of the year. We planned on going, but I never mentioned it to Jean. Lo and behold, we see them at the pull. I kept telling Mercedes that that was the little boy who kept beating her last year and I told her I would really like it if she tried hard this year and beat him. She smiled and said she would do her best. I can't remember what number Mercedes was, but I believe Adam was after her. It was absolutely hilarious because 2 boys got 1st and 2nd and then Mercedes got 1st and BEAT ADAM!!! It was a hoot!! I loved every minute of it!! Adam was upset because he didn't win, but whatever. I didn't say anything to Jean after that because they were sitting in a different spot. Crazy. So, on Monday I heard the other family workers ask Jean how the pedal pull was and she said Adam did ok but didn't place. She didn't say a word that Mercedes beat him! I didn't say anything either, but I told Mary (my coworker) that Mercedes had beaten him. lol. How odd, but we've never seen them at another pedal pull since. Hmmmmm, I wonder why? lol. Again, what good sportsmanship. That's my girl!!!!

She got the trophy she wanted

I think I forgot to write this story about Sierra.

I believe this happened when she was 4 because that year we went to 19 pulls and she placed in every one. She only got a few 3rd's, and the rest were all 1st and 2nd. We went to a pull in Elesian and there was a tractor on 1st place, a star on second place and there wasn't a top on the 3rd place. We showed her the trophies and she told us she was going to get the 2nd place one because she wanted the star. We told her she needed to do her best and she said she didn't like the tractor trophy. During the pull, we showed her that she had to pass "this spot" because that's where the 1st place kid was and then we showed her that "this spot" is where the 2nd place kid was. (I think she happened to pull last so that's why we were able to show her these places.) We told her the spots according to what was in the road or what the person was wearing alongside the road so she knew how far she had to go. Anyway, before the pull, she asked if stopped between those 2 spots if she would be in 2nd place. We of course said yes, but that she had to do the best she could. Well, she was going and going and suddenly she stops right in between the place where 1st and 2nd place were so where she stopped, she was then in second place. I told her I was so proud of her, etc for doing her best and then she said, "No mommy, I could have gone farther, but I told you I wanted the trophy with a star on it!" My jaw just dropped. I couldn't believe it!!! She was ever so excited to get her star trophy. When she got it she said, "I don't have one of these yet!" Everyone in the audience heard that and started laughing. Ugh. . . That's my girl!!

Peace.

Pedal pull in Brownton

We haven't really gone to many pedal pulls. Sierra has 3 trophies and Mercedes has 4 for this year. Oh, I suppose we went to 6 pulls because Mercedes has not placed in 2 pulls this season. The kids were up North with mom and dad and they arrived home last night. There was a pull in Brownton so I asked them if they wanted to go and of course they did! Lincoln started to cry when he found out he couldn't pull. I felt horrible for him! I did tell him that this weekend at ours, he can pull and he seemed to be happy about that. :0)

Anyway, Mercedes was first and she was #7 puller out of 8. There was a full pull, then there was a kid who went 45' something and the next kid was around 39'. The other kids didn't even come close, so we knew she needed to beat the 39'. She got on and pedaled and pedaled and ended up getting 3rd place so we were so excited for her!!

We waited for the other age groups and omg, the kids in Sierra's group were really big! My goodness! She was all excited and nervous. She was bouncing around while waiting in line. She was #12 out of 13! The "big/ugly" girl was there again. Her name is Kirstin and she is big and she is somewhat ugly. I know I shouldn't make fun of her, but we do. I told Sierra that it's ok that she's bigger than Sierra, but at least Sierra has the looks. :) That always makes her smile. Anyway, "big girl" went and she got a full pull and was just acting like an idiot afterwards. Acted like she was untouchable. Whatever. There was this cute girl that was in between "big girl" and Sierra and she was adorable. Anyway, she got a full pull. I have remembered her from other pulls, but I can't remember where she's from. I was cheering for her I just wanted her to get a full pull, too! At least she could tie with Kirstin. lol. There were many other kids who got close to full pulls. Sierra was so nervous and she was bouncing around. It was her turn and she got on the tractor and was pedaling her little heart out. I could totally tell her attitude was in it. She wanted a trophy. She got 1/2 way and her foot slipped off the pedal and the audience all said, "Oooooh", including me. I thought she was done. She came to a dead stop. When the kids are pulling, it's tough to start up again because you have momentum before when you start. Her other foot never left the pedal so the guys told her she could keep going, so I started yelling to her and my goodness she got a FULL PULL!!!! I was soooo proud of her!!! Honestly, I couldn't believe it. After that, I was just in shock. She ended up having to pull again against the other 2 girls. Cute girl got 1st, big girl got 2nd and Sierra got 3rd. I was sooo proud of her! I couldn't believe it. I was so happy cute girl beat big girl! Jon said that big girl got sooo mad and threw her trophy down and just cried and cried. What a joke. Bad sportsmanship, huh? Ick. Big girl's mom is icky, too. She needs to learn she can't win them all, you know? Be happy you even got 2nd. There were other kids who didn't get any. Kirstin definitely needs to grow up. We told Sierra we were just so proud of her. Don't worry, we also kept telling Mercedes that, too.

Peace.
