Sierra's marriage proposal

Sierra's best friend is Leighton Rose. They have been connected since they were 3 in Discovery class (preschool). They play at eachother's house and even stay overnight. The 2 of them have a bond like no other. It's really weird how they connected so well. I thought maybe the older they got, things would change, but they haven't. The other boys in school know Sierra's "Leighton's girlfriend" and it's been like that since Kindergarten. I've spoken with other mom's with kids in Sierra's class and they said that their sons talk about Sierra, but that she is "Leighton's girlfriend". Jon and I went to high school with Leighton's parents, so that's just so weird that we even know eachother! Leighton's little bro, Hawken, and Mercedes are now playing together. How weird!

Anyway, Kari and I were emailing and she sent this email on Monday:

have it all planned out,so cute and how weird if someday they would get
married and they had it all planned out in first grade already what a
sweet story!!!"

I actually copied it as the rest of the email was pretty long, but isn't that sweet? We often talk about how weird that would be if they actually would get married. Sierra has a bond with Leighton like I haven't seen before. He's the only boy she acts the way she does with and to everyone else she's normal. I guess it's just they have a deeper relationship or something. This is the first year they were separated in different classrooms, so that was a bummer. He gave her a butterfly necklace last year for her b-day and I swear that's her favorite one. She hasn't been wearing it as much lately, but when I told her last night what Leighton said, I noticed she had it back on before bedtime. She wore it to school today, too. Kari and joked that apparently, the separation hasn't affected them that much because he still wants to marry her. :0)

Mercedes' first day of school! Dance started!

Mercedes' first day of school was on Monday. She goes on Mon, Wed, and Thursday. She had a blast in school. Some of her friends are Kaylee, Mollee, Kylee, Cam, and Hannah. She loves being with her friends and she has such a large group of friends, so that's a good thing. When Sierra was in it, she was tight with only 2 other girls and you know how 3 is a crowd. Mercedes told me the played the whole time, so I guess socialization is a good thing, too. Too bad we have to pay $95/mo though to socialize.

Dance also started last week and the girls are having fun. Mercedes was bumped up this year to the 5pm class and Sierra's in the 6pm class, so us 4 (with Lincoln) are stuck in Arlington until 7:30pm. Gulp. Lincoln was actually really, really good last week, so I hope that continues.

Sierra's first day of school - Sierra's 8th birthday TODAY!!!

Yesterday was Sierra's first day of school and she had a blast! Her teacher is Mrs. Vos. Sierra has a new friend and her name is Lilly. She's new to the school and it sounds like they hit it off. She's also in the same classroom as Alli and Morgan. Tory is in the other class. She is also not with Leighton for the first time since they were 3. I felt really bad for her, but there's nothing I can do about it. She said she didn't play much with Alli, Tory and Morgan, but it was the first day and everything is so new and exciting.

Sierra was just thrilled that it was her b-day today. She's had a rip off chain she made so she could count the days until her bday. I swear it was for the last 50 days! lol. I put all of her gifts on the fireplace and I told her she could open one present before school. It was a cabbage patch kid with a bunch of extra clothes and she loved it. I also ordered balloons to be delivered at school for her. Hopefully she's not embarrassed! I just love her so much and wanted her to have a good day today. She also brought cupcakes to share and cookies for daycare. Tonight we are going to Pizza Ranch in Glencoe and Jim, Marlys, mom and dad will all be there, too. After we eat, everyone will come to our house for cake, ice cream and opening of her presents. Woo hoo!!

I told Lincoln this morning to say "Happy Birthday" to Sierra and he did. Then, on the way to daycare, he was singing to her! He sang, "Happy Day to Si-ra" in the most sweet little voice ever. You could tell he was trying really to do a great job. Mercedes said Happy Birthday many times to Sierra, too. She was so excited! Sierra got a Carrie Underwood CD, Cabbage Patch Kid with TONS of clothes, pointe (dance) shoes, Bratz doll, Skecher shoes, and a TON of Abercrombie clothes. I can't remember what else, but those are the highlights. :0)
